Stop Casting Pearls Before Swine
Casting Pearls Before Swine (c. 1600s) by Jan Brueghel the Elder
Brueghel’s allegorical works often depict moral and biblical themes. While no specific painting titled this exists, his detailed scenes of animals, human folly, and biblical metaphors visually embody the theme of squandering value, moral decay, waste, and misplaced priorities.

Prayer to Stop Casting Pearls Before Swine.
God, I acknowledge the passion You have placed within me—a desire to speak Your truth, and to offer encouragement to the world. Yet, I also confess the weariness I feel when my words fall on deaf ears or are met with mockery. At times, I struggle with self-doubt, wondering if I am failing to honor Your calling.
Show me when to speak and when to stop talking and listent. Help me to discern those who are prepared to receive Your message and to guard my faith against those who are hostile, dismissive, or incapable of valuing spiritual insights. Teach me to listen to them without being defensive. Teach me to listen to what they’re actually saying - not what I want to hear.
Their words can’t hurt me and I declare that my worth is not measured by their responses but by my obedience to You. I bind the spirits of guilt and discouragement that try to steal my confidence in serving You. I release every conversation that has left me depleted into Your hands.
Lead me to those who are hungry for Your truth, but also remind me that not all seeds will take root immediately, and that it is not my responsibility to force growth. Empower me to walk away from unfruitful conversations with confidence, knowing that You are the one who softens hearts.
Thank You for entrusting me with the privilege of being Your messenger. I surrender my efforts to You, knowing that Your Spirit will accomplish what I cannot. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Read the Verses
Matthew 7:6 (NIV): “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” A reminder to discern where and when to share the treasures of God’s truth.
James 1:5 (NIV): “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Assurance that God grants wisdom generously to those who seek it.
1 Corinthians 3:7 (NIV): “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” Encouragement that it is God who brings fruitfulness, not human effort alone
